RETURN TO ICE CAT HOME PAGE

The crew of Ice Cat Excess has
three objectives for their upcoming project:

Foreign Affair designed by Robin Chamberlin

  1. To raise funds for the charity Orana Respite Centre as part of their Hydro Tasmania Three Peaks Race entry – sailing as Orana Respite Mersey Pharmacy.

  2. To deliver Foreign Affair from Brisbane to Hobart to act as their support vessel for the race, and in the process attempt the Eco-Marine challenge – albeit for 1060 miles – to establish the practicality and efficiency of the Chamberlin displacement catamaran design.

  3. Acquit themselves well in the Tilman Trophy division of the Three Peaks Race, including having their middle-aged sailors run (walk/struggle) the 35 kilometres up and back down the Mt Wellington final leg of the race.

A practice Mt Wellington ascent will be attempted on arrival in Hobart after the Eco-Marine Challenge as the crew will have spent more than three days at sea, simulating the conditions that will be experienced before the actual race at Easter.
